A man arrested in Oxfordshire has escaped police officers after being taken to hospital.

Ricky Ousley had been arrested in relation to a domestic-related incident but fell ill at Abingdon custody so was then taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

At approximately 7.35am, the hospital discharged Ousley back into the custody of officers, when he absconded.

The 24-year-old is a white male, around 5ft 8ins to 5ft 9ins tall with black hair and a beard while he is also known to frequent south Oxford.

Ousley remains on the run with Thames Valley Police urgently searching Oxford for the now wanted man.

The force is now asking for the public’s help to trace him and has released a photograph of him as part of their social media appeal.

Officers have also warned people not to approach Ousley if they spot him but instead get in touch with police directly.

Chief Superintendent Emma Garside of Thames Valley Police said: “Ousley had been taken to hospital for treatment following his arrest, and upon his discharge, he made off from officers.

“Despite efforts to locate him, we have, as yet, been unsuccessful in doing so.

“As such, we are appealing to anybody who knows of his whereabouts to call police on 999, quoting reference number 43240112086.

“We would urge the public if you see him, do not approach him, but contact Thames Valley Police immediately.”
