A judge confessed he was ‘very sceptical’ following the admission of a money launderer to hospital.
Vijay Deuchande, 53, had been due before Oxford Crown Court on Friday (September 15) to be sentenced for his part in the £1.7m money laundering operation.

When the Leicester man failed to show-up, Judge Michael Gledhill KC was told that he had been admitted to A&E with a suspected panic attack.
Confessing that he was ‘very sceptical about what is going on’, the judge offered a diagnosis of his own.

“I’m sure he’ll recover pretty quickly once he realises he’s not having to come to Oxford Crown Court,” he said.
The case was adjourned until September 29, when Deuchande’s lawyers will be expected to provide medical evidence for his absence.
