A video has been circulating online of a weapons incident at a barbers in Banbury.

A 22-year-old man from Banbury was arrested today (May 28) on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

He remains in police custody.

A Thames Valley Police spokesman said: “We are aware of a video circulating on social media of a weapons incident at a barbers in Church Lane, Banbury, yesterday (Saturday, May 27).

“Officers are investigating and have arrested a 22-year-old man from Banbury on suspicion of aggravated burglary today. He remains in police custody."

Those with information about the incident are asked to call 101 or make a report on the Thames Valley Police website, quoting the reference number 43230234305.

Alternatively, people can provide information anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or via its website.

Earlier today (May 28), police released a statement thanking members of the public for sending video footage to the police.

A Thames Valley Police spokesman said at the time: "We are aware of video footage that is circulating on social media of an incident that occurred in Banbury town centre. 

"This incident is under investigation and we will provide updates when it is appropriate for us to do so. 

"Thank you to those who reported it to us."
