Valley Park is on land to the west of Great Western Park and outline planning permission for 4,254 dwellings was granted in February last year.

The application is only in its first phase, but the ambitious proposal includes plans to build a variety of houses and apartments.

Out of the 179 new homes, 60 of these will be available as part of social housing.

Persimmon Wessex’s managing director Julian Roper said: “We are very excited to submit our high-quality plans for the first phase of development at Valley Park.

“Persimmon’s first phase will deliver 179 quality new homes for local people, including a range of one, two, three and four-bedroom properties and 60 social homes, which will be equipped with electric charging points and solar panels.

“Our first-phase proposals include a new village green and have responded to key design requests from key stakeholders and sought to create a high-quality, contemporary scheme.”

The proposal includes the delivery of two new primary schools on the site which would come at a cost of over £20 million and £9 million for secondary education.

Persimmon Wessex also plans to invest more extensively in the site, with £15.2 million assigned for new road improvements, £3.6 million for public transport and a new healthcare facility will also be built at Valley Park.

Mr Roper said the new development will be “truly transformational” and deliver “substantial benefit in the local area”.
