Police have launched an investigation after receiving reports of a teenage girl being followed by a man in a red van.

The incident took place at around 5pm on Wednesday (March 29) on The Broadway in Didcot.

Officers are asking for anyone with dash-cam footage in the area between the Civic Hall, the ambulance station and WH Smith’s to come forward.

In a public warning, a parent of the teenager warned the community of the incident.

She said: "My 15-year-old daughter was persistently harassed by a stranger in a red plain van on her way to town this afternoon.

"He attempted to cajole her into his van three times in a space of 10 minutes."

A Thames Valley Police spokesperson: "We are investigating a report received yesterday (March 29) of a teenager being followed by a male in a red van.

"This occurred at around 5pm in The Broadway, Didcot.

"While looking to ascertain whether any offences have taken place, we would ask anybody who was driving in the area between the Civic Hall, the ambulance station and WH Smith’s, to please check dash-cam and contact Thames Valley Police on 101, quoting reference 43230139065, if it has captured the vehicle described.

"We have not received any other similar reports, and as such, this is being treated as an isolated incident."
