A youth empowerment group hosted a weekend of creative art, music, dance and drama workshops for school children.

105 children took part in the Bicester schools art festival hosted by OYAP Trust at their premises in Cemetery Road, Bicester.

The event included an art exhibition with all work created by students from Bure Park primary School, Fritwell Primary School, Glory Farm Primary School and St Edburg’s Primary School.

All were working on the theme of ‘power’, producing art that explored topics such as powerful rulers, the power of teamwork, the power of words, the power of nature and their own individual interpretations of power.

Following the pupils’ hard work, they were all invited to take part in a series of creative workshops at OYAP, which included music, dance and drama workshops.

Teacher at Glory Farm School, Kirsten Black, said: “It is so wonderful to see the talent we have in our children in Bicester.

“The exhibition looks wonderful. Thank you to OYAP for making this festival come true.”

A teacher from Bure Park Primary School, Sarah Moon, added: “Amazing artwork and a great opportunity for the artists in the school.

“My school are proud to be a part of this exciting project.”

General Manager of OYAP Trust Donna Waterer said: “We had such positive feedback that we are extending the exhibition, which can now be seen during normal OYAP opening hours until the end of the Easter holidays.

“Thanks to everyone who helped to make this possible, but most of all the fabulous children who took part.”
