A young person suffering a mental health crisis was detained by police officers to avoid any self-harm.

Officers attended Bicester North Train Station this morning responding to a concern for welfare for a young person.

The young person was suffering a mental health crisis and police officers intervened in order to prevent the person from causing themselves serious harm.

They are now safe and well and receiving support from the most appropriate agencies.

A few days ago a major charity warned that the country’s mental health is probably the worst it has ever been.

It said the cost of living crisis as well as the aftermath of the Covid pandemic is pushing people to the brink.

Dr Sarah Hughes, who became chief executive of Mind in January, said the charity was really worried about the impact the cost-of-living crisis will have on people’s mental health.
