A bank in Thame is set to close its doors to customers for the final time next month.

The Natwest branch on Cornmarket will shut for good on March 1 as the bank recently announced the closure of 23 branches across the country as more people take care of their banking online.

However, residents will still be able to access their bank accounts at post office branches nearby.

The nearest post offices to the closing NatWest branch are:

  • Thame PO, 3 High Street, Thame, OX9 2BU
  • Tiddington stop, Albury View, Tiddington, Oxen, OX9 2LY

Each of the post offices will offer banking services including deposits, free cash withdrawals, balance checks, face-to-face access to government services, bill payment, and foreign currency.

A spokesperson for The National Federation of SubPostmasters said: "Post offices are proving vital to retaining individual and business access to cash as the banks continue to desert the high street in order to cut costs and increase their profits.

"Every post office plays a vital role within the heart of the local community.

"Post offices provide a reliable and essential service which has continued at a high standard across the whole of the UK throughout the pandemic."

A number of major banks in Oxfordshire have also announced closures for 2023.

Recently, Lloyds in Wallingford closed on January 23 with HSBC in Didcot and HSBC in Henley, both closing on May 9, HSBC in Bicester, closing on June 20 and Natwest in Oxford, closing on February 7
