WINTRY conditions are expected to stick around across the county for the next few weeks – with a slight chance of snow.

The Met Office's long-range forecast suggests windy, rainy and even slightly snowy conditions across the whole UK this month.

The first snow will arrive in Scotland from the east in the early hours of Thursday, February 9. It is expected to hit Oxfordshire on the Friday morning.

Between Sunday, February 5 and Tuesday, February 14, the long-range forecast states: "Sunday is likely to be a widely fine day, with long sunny spells across all areas, with residual showers in the far north clearing through the morning, and with cloud and light rain in the south also clearing.

"Further into the period the conditions are expected to remain settled for many at first, with the most of any wet weather likely in the far northwest.

“Temperatures most likely around average for most. Later, the most likely scenario is for wetter, windier and milder weather to move in from the west, however there is a small chance of easterly winds developing bringing colder weather and some snow showers."

Between Wednesday, February 15 and Wednesday, March 1, the forecast adds: "This period is likely to be characterised by changeable weather, with unsettled and windy conditions, especially in the northwest. The best of the settled conditions in the east and southeast.

“Temperatures likely average or slightly milder than average, with a chance of short colder spells."
