JOSH McNulty scored a hat-trick of tries as Chinnor secured a gritty 37-29 victory at Birmingham Moseley.

Nick Easter’s side have now recorded three bonus point wins in a row and are nine points clear of the relegation zone.

Chinnor made an excellent start to lead 10-0 after eight minutes, thanks to tries from hooker Mark Darlington and tighthead prop McNulty.

Moseley grew into the game and despite there being very little in the contest, went on to go 19-10 in front after 33 minutes, with Elliott Creed (2) and Sam McNulty going over – Dan Lewis converting twice.

Chinnor full back Nick Smith then slotted a penalty to reduce the arrears to six points at the break.

Rob Knox’s try – converted by Lewis – put Moseley 26-13 in front after 48 minutes, but the visitors came roaring back.

Loosehead prop Keston Lines set up McNulty for his second try, before the tighthead completed his hat-trick – Smith adding the extras on both occasions – to make it 27-26 to Chinnor.

A Lewis penalty again nudged Moseley in front, but they could not stop the visitors from adding to their tally.

Scrum half Luke Carter dived over for Chinnor’s fifth try, and Smith followed up the conversion with a penalty to put them eight points in front.

Moseley went in search of at least another bonus point, but the visitors held firm in the National League 1 clash.
