ROSS Jenkins feels Oxford City are due going on a run in Vanarama National League South.

The Hoops have lost just once in five league matches, after scoring late to pick up a point at home to Dartford in midweek.

Canice Carroll poked home from inside the box with three minutes to go, moving the Hoops up to eighth in National League South.

Speaking after the 1-1 draw with Dartford, Hoops head coach Jenkins said a string of wins is just around the corner.

He said: “It’s coming, we had a good run earlier in the season.

“Performances will come through and shine through.

“If we’re consistent in our play, consistent in our training, and consistent as coaches and in our messages, which we are, it will come off.

“When it does come off, it’s brilliant to watch.

“We’re getting to that fine line now where it’s coming off more often than not.

“That’s credit to the boys because they’re the ones having to execute it.

“It’s a tough ask, what I ask. It’s demanding physically and mentally, it can be draining.”

On putting away their chances in the final third, Jenkins added: “We work on it a lot, you can see the amount of time we spend around the 18-yard box.

“We’re probing, it’s not rushed, it’s calm, there is a plan.

“When that plan comes off, it looks really good, we’ve just got to take some of them chances.”

The Hoops face a trip to second from bottom Cheshunt tomorrow, and despite City only being outside the play-offs on goal difference, Jenkins is wary of the threats the Hertfordshire side possess.

He said: “It might be a slightly different game plan, it’s the first time I would’ve come across them.

“We’ve got to be prepared for whatever they throw at us.

“We’ve got some bodies coming back from injury and illness, so that’s really good.”

Carroll added: “We speak about every team in the league and we do our homework, our focus is all on that now.

“There’s teams we’ve played that haven’t been higher up in the league, and we’ve struggled against them.

“Everyone gets our respect in this league.

“If we go there and put our performance in, we know what we can produce.”

Jay Williams struck in the last minute as Banbury United won 1-0 at home to Bradford Park Avenue, seeing the Puritans jump to eighth in National League North.
