CHINNOR suffered their fourth defeat in six matches as fellow strugglers Esher left Kingsey Road with a bonus point victory.

The Surrey side triumphed 41-33 in the 11-try thriller.

Despite the defeat, a four-try bonus point sees Chinnor climb out of the National League 1 relegation zone as Leeds Tykes were beaten heavily by Darlington Mowden Park.

Chinnor opened the scoring when full back Nick Smith converted his own try, but with prop Josh McNulty in the sin bin, Esher’s James Botterill and Sam Morley crossed to put the visitors three points in front.

The hosts replied through Jason Worrall, but the visitors headed into the break with a 24-14 lead thanks to solo efforts from Ben Fitzgerald and Jack Walsh.

Chinnor’s Will Feeney scored his first try for the club, and although the hosts replied to scores from Botterill and Myles Rawstron-Rudd, through McNulty and Willie Ryan, the visitors kept an eight-point lead.
