Stagecoach West has announced free travel for veterans, service personnel and cadets on all of its bus services, including The Oxford Tube, on Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday.

Veterans wearing medals or a veteran's badge and serving personnel or cadets in uniform or with a military ID, can travel for free on all Stagecoach services next Friday (November 11) and Sunday (November 13).

Rachel Geliamassi, managing director of Stagecoach West said: “With Remembrance services planned at memorials across the region, we hope that people wishing to pay their respects will take up the offer of free travel.

“At Stagecoach West many of our employees have served or have friends or family members with a connection to the Armed Forces so the Royal British Legion and the annual Poppy Appeal mean a great deal to us.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our passengers, drivers and teams for their generous donations and ongoing support of this incredibly worthy cause.”

The bus company is a long-time supporter of the Poppy Appeal and every bus and coach in its fleets displays a poppy on its front, to mark the commemorative occasion.

Employees across Stagecoach West will also be asked to honour the two minute’s silence on both days, where safe and appropriate to do so.

The ongoing free travel commitment follows the launch of Stagecoach’s employee-led UK-wide Veterans’ Network.
