A Bicester business and coworking hub has been named one of Britain’s most exceptional places to work at the British Council for Offices (BCO) Awards.

The BCO Awards recognise and reward top quality design, innovation and functionality of UK office spaces, and set a benchmark for excellence and best practice in the workplace.

The Eco Business Centre on Charlotte Avenue, which is home to Perch Coworking, won the national projects under 1500 metres squared award, a prize which honours exemplary smaller-sized workspaces.

Perch is operated by coworking and small business specialist Town Square Spaces Ltd, on behalf of Cherwell District Council.

Earlier this year, the Eco Business Centre won the regional award in the same category for the South of England and South Wales, which put them in the national shortlist with just four other sites across the UK.

The Eco Business Centre was designed by Architype with sustainability at its core, and is the first non-domestic property in the UK to achieve the Passivhaus Plus standard for energy efficiency, meaning it is carbon neutral and self-sufficient.

Community Manager at Perch Lucy Wendon said: “The Eco Business Centre wouldn’t be what it is without its state-of-the-art sustainable design by Architype, the investment and commitment of Cherwell District Council, or the fantastic community of coworkers that we’ve grown here.

“We’ve all had our part to play in creating a truly unique and inspiring workspace, and it’s an honour to be recognised for what we’ve achieved.”
