A PRIMARY school has raised almost £19,000 by holding its own annual ‘Race for Life’ events.

Chesterton CE Primary School, in Alchester Road, Bicester held the fourth Race for Life event this month, raising money for Cancer Research UK.

A total of 180 children took part and ran 5km in laps around the school playing field. So far this year they have raised £3,870 for CRUK making the total raised over the last four years almost £19,000.

Resident Gill Begnor said: “Huge congratulations to all the children who took part - and especially those who beat the Headteacher Iain Horner, who had been training hard for the event.

“Also a big thank-you to Mrs Rotherham - the driving force behind the event over the last four years.”
