THE Oxford Mail player ratings after Oxford United lost 2-1 to Chelsea Under-21s in the Papa John’s Trophy.

SIMON EASTWOOD

Made a fantastic save to deny Omari Hutchinson from a free-kick, before an even better double save to deny the same player from the penalty spot – 7.5

DJAVAN ANDERSON

Defended well at times and showed an eagerness to get forward, but poor judgement to concede the penalty and was careless in possession – 6

JOHN MOUSINHO

Relatively untroubled by Chelsea’s youngsters and was always on hand to make vital interceptions and blocks. MAN OF THE MATCH – 7.5

JAMES GOLDING

Very comfortable on the ball and more than happy to move play forward with the ball at his feet. Misplaced pass allowed Chelsea in for the equaliser – 7

STEVE SEDDON

Got forward well into good crossing positions but failed to cause any problems with the balls into the box – 6.5

MARCUS MCGUANE

A solid first half showing, and was neat and tidy on the ball without doing too much offensively – 7

ALEX GORRIN

Looked dangerous playing a more advanced role, while the full 90 minutes will have been good for his fitness. BOOKED – 7.5

LEWIS BATE

Guilty of giving the ball away too easily and too often. Went off with an injury after a challenge in the second half. BOOKED – 6

JODI JONES

Sharp and busy, with flashes of skill. Didn’t get much of a chance in the final third though – 7

MATTY TAYLOR

Typical poacher’s goal took him joint-ninth in United’s goalscoring charts and could’ve grabbed another when one-one-one with the goalkeeper – 7

BILLY BODIN

Got well down the left in the first half, while lots of nice touches when dropping into a central position – 7
