A man was arrested on suspicion of punching a woman and then assaulting the two female officers who arrested him.

Police were called to a report of a man punching a woman on Chatsworth Drive in Banbury at around 7 last night, Sunday, October 2.

A 37-year-old man from Banbury was arrested on suspicion of assault.

He was then further arrested on suspicion of assaulting the two female officers.

The incident led to a heavy police presence around the Caldwell Road and Longdon Crescent area of Banbury.

 

TVP Cherwell posted on Facebook: "We would like to reassure residents that all is OK and we are not looking for anybody else in relation to this incident.

"To the residents of Longdon Crescent who came out to support our officers and check on them - thank you - it was very much appreciated."

Witnesses are asked to contact police, quoting crime reference 43220442416.
