Oxford United must get results after ownership change

The long-awaited change of ownership has lifted spirits and provided a welcome morale boost among the club’s fanbase, after a less than pulsating start to the season.

Hopes are high, both on the terraces and inside the club, for what the future might hold under the new owners.

Results so far this season have been disappointing, something acknowledged by new co-owner Anindya Bakrie, chairman Grant Ferguson and head coach Karl Robinson this week.

Following a two-week break from action in Sky Bet League One, the U’s make a return away to fellow slow starters, Charlton Athletic.

It kicks off what could be a huge month for United, with eight matches to squeeze in.

Six of those are in the league, and include a home clash against Peterborough United, plus away trips to Portsmouth and Bolton Wanderers.

That trio of sides are all currently in the top eight places in League One, therefore getting positive results – ideally victories – would be crucial as the U’s look to kick on this season.

Fans waited patiently for the ownership situation to sort itself out, hopefully they’re not waiting too long to start climbing the table.
