AN event featuring the best model railways and model engineering is coming to Bicester this weekend.

The Gauge 1 Model Railway Association is celebrating its 75th anniversary with an exhibition of railway models at Bicester Heritage’s Hangar 113 on October 1 and 2.

There will also be stalls by traders and suppliers as well as traction engines and classic cars.

Stuart Hithersay, who organised the event, said: “Using a large space like the Hangar 113 at Bicester Heritage is quite a departure for a relatively small club like ourselves but for such a special occasion we wanted to do something really special.

“The history of the site and its specific use for heritage transport and engineering industry made it ideal for our Gauge 1 steam engineered railways.

“Gauge 1 goes back to the very start of railway modelling when everything was live steam.

We could not have put the show on without our sponsors and the amazing help of the Bicester Motion team.”
