BANBURY United came from behind to beat Scarborough Athletic in the sides’ top of the table clash in Vanarama National League North.

In front of a 1,200 crowd at Spencer Stadium, the hosts brought saves out of opposition goalkeeper Joe Cracknell, with Josh Smile and Ben Acquaye going close.

However, the Puritans fell behind when Kieran Weledji tapped in from close range, shortly before half-time.

Giorgio Rasulo forced Cracknell into another save as the Puritans sought a quick response.

Cracknell then denied Connor Roberts in the second half, but was finally beaten by Acquaye in the 73rd minute.

The 22-year-old was passed the ball from a short corner, cut inside and fired home from just inside the penalty box.

The winner came 11 minutes later when Harry Parsons collected a through ball from Callum Reilly, and finished past Cracknell.

Prior to the game, the Puritans completed a triple signing and the trio of teenagers went straight into the squad.

Josh Dugmore, a 19-year-old right back, made 47 appearances for Bromsgrove Sporting last season, prior to a move to AFC Telford United this campaign.

However, after making just three appearances – two as a substitute – for the Shropshire side, Dugmore had his contract cancelled by mutual consent.

Mo Dabre joined on a 28-day loan from Swindon Town.

The 19-year-old midfielder has made seven appearances for the Robins, including as a substitute in the Emirates FA Cup against Man City. He played on loan at Chippenham Town last season.

Craig Hewitt has joined the Puritans on a permanent basis from Coventry City, where he played in the youth sides. The 18-year-old wide midfielder is the cousin of former striker Chris Wreh.

North Leigh were beaten 1-0 at Harrow Borough in Southern League Premier South, with both sides remaining in the bottom four.

Didcot Town and Thame United were knocked out the FA Trophy after both suffered defeats.

The Gunners were beaten 1-0 at Tavistock, while Thame suffered a 2-1 loss at home to Binfield.
