An estimated 600kg of rubbish was removed from a roadside by a street cleansing team in one day.

Cherwell District Council’s street cleansing team were out in force on the A34 two days ago clearing rubbish from the verge in between the Peartree interchange and the Kidlington slip road.

During that time, they collected an estimated 600kg of litter.

A Cherwell District Council spokesperson wrote on Facebook: “the team started work at 6am.

“They were grateful for the assistance of traffic management who closed lane one so the work could be completed safely.

“Next Sunday the work will continue, and the team will be litter picking the verge between the Kidlington slip road and the M40 junction nine.
