A learner driver did not realise they were not allowed to drive on the motorway, until they were pulled over by police.

Thames Valley Police officers stopped the vehicle when it joined the motorway near Bicester.

Officers at the scene reported that the driver was not “aware that provisional licence holders can't drive on the motorway”

They had their vehicle seized and were issued with three penalty points and a fine.

Under UK law, it is illegal for a learner driver to drive on the motorway unless they are undertaking a lesson with a qualified driving instructor in a car fitted with dual controls and L-plates.
