Cute cat ‘Lefty’ which lost its eye to the feline herpesvirus is looking for new owners – after siblings ‘Righty’ and ‘Two eyes’ were rehomed.

The partially sighted pet along with its third sibling ‘Fluffy’ – also in care – has been listed for adoption by Cherwell Cats Protection, a pet rehoming charity covering the district.

Lefty and Righty both had feline herpesvirus when they were kittens, which led to them each losing one eye – corresponding to their names.

In cats, the virus causes conjunctivitis, ocular discharge, sneezing, nasal discharge, salivation and lethargy, among other symptoms.

A spokesperson for Cherwell Cats Protection said: “Lefty has suffered a lot of trauma in his short life.

“His eye was removed when he was a few months old, but he has really adapted well.

“He’s now eight months old and is looking for a home with his brother, Fluffy.

“Lefty is a very friendly boy and just loves rolling over to have his tummy tickled.

“He needs a rural home which is away from busy roads.

“Sadly, due to the fact they had a virus when they were little, they cannot be rehomed with other cats in case they pass it on.
