People who use a Tesco Superstore in the county have been left “stressed” after the shop was unable to take cash payments for more than six weeks.

The Tesco Superstore in Lakeview Drive, Bicester was left operating just a limited number of cash tills in recent weeks due to a disruption to the supermarket’s regular coinage deliveries.

Shoppers who use the store were left stressed out, annoyed and inconvenienced by the lack of cash tills.

One shopper, Jody Charles, said: “Tesco is stressful place to shop now when it comes to paying. I have just learnt to not bother with cash now.”

Another Tesco Superstore user, Clare Everitt, said she now knows why she has “gone off that store”.

“Presume they want to make it card and self-service only,” she added.

Valerie Godwin called the situation a “joke” and also said she does not use the store anymore.

On the other hand, Nikky Rawlings said: “I can understand the annoyance but at least we can buy what we need and have the money to do so.”

Mick Upfield equally wondered if it is “a ploy to make the shop card only” or whether it was simply an issue with delivery.

He also mused whether any other stores were impacted by the issue.

A spokesperson for Tesco said: “We are now able to take cash payments as normal at tills at our Bicester Superstore, and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
