Opening her inquest yesterday, senior coroner Darren Salter said a post-mortem had given the cause of Ms Gardner’s death as multi-drug toxicity, with cocaine, methadone and amitriptyline among the substances found. She had suffered a pulmonary embolism, or a blocked blood vessel in the lungs.

A full inquest will be held in mid-December.

Mr Salter said Ms Gardner had been born in 1970 in Oxford. She was not working at the time of her death.
