A WOMAN has been fined more than £2,000 for returning to England without a coronavirus testing kit last year.

Lilianne Tavlan, 21, of Turl Street in Oxford, arrived at Heathrow Airport while failing to possess coronavirus testing package on April 8 last year.

Travelling abroad was prohibited at the time other than for a “small number of permitted reasons”.

The government launched a new taskforce to review global travel which included rules such as taking coronavirus tests before and after travelling as well as self-isolating.

Tavlan was fined £1,760 at Greater Manchester Magistrates' Court on July 18 this year. She was almost made to pay a victim surcharge or £176 and court costs of £90.

The whole total is £2,026 which has to be paid by Monday, August 15.
