A global kebab chain has launched a new product which it said is the first of its kind in the UK.

German Doner Kebab (GDK) launched the UK’s first pink kebabs on July 11, and the products are now available at GDK Bicester.

Served in fluffy pink coconut-infused waffle bread, the fast food comes in two different sizes, called Coco and Kiki.

The casing is combined with doner meats, fresh lettuce, tomato, onion and red cabbage.

GDK partnered with some of the UK’s up-and-coming music talent to promote the new range, including Tion Wayne, Ivorian Doll, Bryn, Nadia Rose and Stefflon Don.

As part of the launch the kebab brand has created a limited-edition Coco and Kiki fashion collection, designed by Dresscodenation, that has been worn and signed by its music ambassadors and that people across the UK will have the chance to win.

Customers can purchase the new Coco kebab for £6.99 and the Kiki kebab for £3.

Both meaty treats are available for dine-in and takeaway at all GDK restaurants and for delivery from August.

GDK claim their kebabs are freshly prepared in front of customers, with premium, lean, succulent meats and fresh local vegetables.

GDK Global COO Daniel Bunce said: “We’re excited to finally introduce the Coco and Kiki kebabs to our list of game-changing products and give our customers something disruptive and deliciously unexpected.

“At GDK we are known for our expectation-defying kebabs and the new Coco and Kiki kebabs demonstrate our disruptive spirit through food, fashion and unique collaborations with some of the UK’s hottest up-and-coming music artists.”

GDK now has over 100 restaurants in the UK alone, as it continues to bring the GDK experience to more locations across the globe.

The German food company was launched in 1989, with its first store opening in Berlin.

The first franchise was opened in Dubai in 2013 by a man who had grown up in Germany and enjoyed eating kebabs after football training sessions.

The number of store locations tripled in 2014, and GDK now operates in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah in UAW, Bahrain, Oman, Sweden, Egypt and in the UK.

GDK opened its first stores in the US and Canada in 2019.

The Bicester store – located in Pioneer Square – was set to open in November 2021 along with plans to open 47 new restaurants in the UK by the end of that year.

Building on the 12 opened during 2020.

However, the eatery – GDK’s 92nd site in the UK - didn’t open until January 31, 2022.
