The former Prime Minister may not be able to return to his previous home now that his tenure is over.

Boris Johnson’s tenure as Prime Minster has come to an end, and so has his tenancy at number 10, and his leisurely stays at Chequers.

According to the Daily Mail, Mr Johnson and his wife Carrie’s previous home – a £1.2 million house in Camberwell, South London – was on the market for rent last year at £4,000 a month.

Additionally, the couple’s Grade II-listed cottage in Thame, Oxfordshire, also worth £1.2 million, was offered for rent at £4,250 a month for a minimum 12-month term.

The Daily Mail’s article stated that both properties are likely still in their initial one-year contracts.

And even if they are not, Mr Johnson and his wife will still need to give at least 28 days’ notice to the tenants.

It was bought by Mr Johnson and his previous wife Marina Wheeler in 2003 for £690,000.

Other former PMs faced a similar ‘homelessness’ issue, but they overcame the situation comfortably.

David Cameron returned to his family home in Dean near Witney in West Oxfordshire, Theresa May moved back into her home in Maidenhead, Berkshire, and Tony Blair made use of his £3.4 million house in Connaught Square, Central London.
