The new chairman of a huge countryside charity in Oxfordshire is ready to take on the increasing intrusion into nature by developers.

Robin Oliver – a keen countryman – has been named as the new chairman of CPRE’s Cherwell District Committee.

Robin is keen to challenge proposals by developers that would undermine and otherwise destroy green spaces.

He argues there are plenty of brown field sites in the county that should be used first.

He further stated that many of these developers have no local connection, and that it is essential that local planners have a clear understanding the impacts that their decision have on local communities.

Robin said: “Digging up a field or chopping down a wood must never be cheaper than redeveloping brown field sites.”
