There’s lots of exciting events going ahead in Bicester to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee over the next four days.

To make it easy for you to plan your itinerary, we’ve put together a round-up of all the major Jubilee events taking place in the town:

 

Music for a Royal occasion

St. Edburg’s Church will be hitting the right tones as they play host to a Jubilee-celebrating musical event delivered by brand new classical ensemble Alina Orchestra.  

The playlist features Handel’s Water Music and other ceremonial pieces by Elgar, Boyce and Walton.  

The event will begin at 7:30pm on Thursday, June 2, with tickets available here.

 

Bicester Heritage Beacon lighting

The Platinum Jubilee Beacons will be the first community event held over the celebratory four-day Jubilee Weekend, on the 2nd to the 5th of June 2022.

Bicester Heritage will provide a historic backdrop for this momentous event and will be open to welcome you at the Wriggly Monkey Brewery from 19:30pm on Thursday, June 2.

The event will culminate in the Beacon being lit at 9:45pm, starting the Platinum Jubilee celebrations over the weekend.

Blenheim Palace Food Festival

Running from June 2 to June 5, it’s a festival for food lovers, family and friends. This year’s event features chef royalty in the shape of Raymond Blanc OBE, alongside Italian legend Gennaro Contaldo and Great British Bake Off’s Karen Wright.

The event will be flowing with cocktails, craft beers, food stalls and vintage music for all to enjoy.

Launton’s Spitfire Flyby

In a bid to raise money for Launton’s children’s play area, the Launton Sports and Social and Playing Fields Association have arranged an event that is sure to ‘take-off’.

After making the application last September, the group have been successful in securing a flyby from the only air worthy spitfire plane left from the Battle of Britain. The plane is due to fly past the town at 4:10pm on Saturday, June 4.

The organisers have so much planned that the event will spread out over both Friday and Saturday from 12 noon until 11pm.

Including traditional stocks and sponge throwing, aunt sally, live bands, karaoke, arts and craft making and afternoon tea.

 

Bicester Market

Bicester Market will take place from 9am to 4pm on Friday, June 3.

 

Bicester Town Council’s Platinum Jubilee in Garth Park

Bicester Town Council have organised Jubilee celebrations in Garth Park on Saturday, June 4.

Guests can expect a day full of activities and stalls.

 

Bicester’s Big Lunch on Sheep Street

Bicester’s Big Lunch is back with a bang on Sunday, June 5, inviting people from Bicester and beyond to a day of Queen-sized entertainment.

The event will be held on Sheep Street from 11am to 5pm, offering a variety of stalls, performers, a climbing wall and a drumming workshop.

 

Songs of Praise at Edburg’s Church

The Jubilee celebrations end where they began, at St Edburg’s Church.
