A new venue serving food and cocktails is set to open in Bicester’s Market Square this Thursday, April 21.

Jonathan Miller, the owner of The Fat Zebra, began his career in hospitality in Johannesburg running one of the busiest restaurants in South Africa. After 40 years working in the business, he has decided to jump the aisle and start his own restaurant.

He said: “Bicester is one of the fastest growing towns in England and with the host of other coffee shops and restaurants we feel we have a different offer and one that compliments the trends in food and in a convivial and relaxed atmosphere.

He added: “I love people and I love food, what else can I say.”

Jonathan has had help from family and friends in setting up the restaurant. His daughter came up with the name, and one of his and his wife Rose’s dearest friends, Liana, from South Africa, came over to Bicester for 6 weeks to help launch the simple but fresh and locally sourced menu.

Jonathan said: “We have already taken on some really amazing people to help us serve our customers, so we are super excited to start our venture.”

The venue will be open daily from 7:30am to 5pm with slightly different hours on weekends. Their licence will be arriving soon so they will begin to serve cocktails from 5-8pm.
