Over 300 used car tyres have been illegally dumped at rural locations near Balscote, Horley and Shutford.

The dumping was spread over several locations, including approximately 100 tyres being left on the Shutford to Alkerton Road, and another hundred being left on an unnamed road between Warwick Road and the scout camp near Horley.

Cherwell District Council are calling on residents who may have seen a large vehicle acting suspiciously near the villages west of Banbury on Friday, April 8 – when the dumping was first reported - to come forward with any information.

Richard Webb, Assistant Director for Regulatory Services and Community Safety, said: “Because of the scale of the offence, the culprits were likely from a business who thought it was a clever move to dump the tyres illegally.”
