AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a cannabis farm was discovered at an ordinary-looking residential property in Kidlington this morning.

The discovery was made when Thames Valley Police's Bicester-based problem solving and tasking team carried out a warrant at a property in the area earlier today.

Photographs at the scene show how the normal-looking home has been transformed inside.

The first picture shows an ordinary back door and window, dressed with net curtains. The second shows dozens of plants growing in a darkened room, with specialist lighting and equipment.

In total, police said they recovered 64 cannabis plants that were in 'varying stages of growth'.

They said an investigation is currently ongoing.

Thames Valley Police has been contacted for further detail.

Earlier this year, over 700 cannabis plants were found at a drugs factory in Witney leading to several arrests.

In the UK, cannabis is illegal to possess, distribute, sell or grow in the UK. It is legal to grow industrial hemp for commercial purposes but this requires a government licence.

It remains classified as a Class B drug, meaning anyone caught with cannabis risks up to five years imprisonment, a fine, or both.

Being convicted of producing and supplying a Class B drug risks up to 14 years' imprisonment, along with a fine, or both.
