MOVIE lovers are being invited to watch films under the stars at a series of screenings at Blenheim Palace.

Four movie screenings are coming to the Oxfordshire landmark next month where audience members can enjoy classics such as Bohemian Rhapsody, Star Wars: A New Hope, The Greatest Showman sing-a-long, and Some Like It Hot.

From August 12th to 15th, The Luna Cinema will light up Blenheim Palace, one of 50 locations in the country to have been chosen to screen some best-loved films.

George Wood, founder of the Luna Cinema, said: "There could hardly be a more anticipated summer than this 2021 post-lockdown season. Every outing we arrange is set to feel special and unique after so long away form the people and activities we love.

"Cinema has provided the magic of escape through the decades, and we know that The Luna Cinema can bring joy and respite to the lives of movie-goers across the country this summer, more than ever before."

What's on at Blenheim Palace this August?

  • Thursday 12th: Star Wars: A New Hope
  • Friday 13th: Bohemian Rhapsody
  • Saturday 14th: The Greatest Showman Sing-Along
  • Sunday 15th: Some Like It Hot

The Luna Bar with Moretti will be present at all screenings serving a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and there will be hot food available to buy. There’s also a selection of snacks, including popcorn, crisps and ice cream by Häagen-Dazs.

Food and drink will be available to order using a 'click and collect' service to avoid time spent queuing.

Audiences are also welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy while they watch the big screen, although bringing alcohol is not permitted.

George said: "After so many months spent watching films at home, we are delighted to be inviting people to return to the big screen with our brand of socially spacious, open air cinema experiences including Blenheim Palace.

"So, picture this: your favourite film, the people you've missed (or just missed spending quality time with), a starry summer sky above, and all around you the most inspiring and beautiful settings.

"We are promising our guests an outing worthy of the wait - and we are counting down the days to welcoming Britain back to the movies."
