NINE people have died in Oxfordshire after testing positive for coronavirus.
According to Public Health England, five people died in Oxford, three people in South Oxfordshire and one in Cherwell.
Separate NHS data revealed that three people died in a hospital run by Oxford University NHS Foundation Trust (OUH) which could have been the John Radcliffe, Churchill, Nuffield or Horton Hospitals.
This means the other six victims of the virus died at home, a care home or hospice.
In the daily update, Public Health England also revealed there were 254 new coronavirus cases in Oxfordshire in the 24 hours leading up to 9am yesterday.
These are the latest cases:
- Oxford – 73
- South Oxfordshire – 42
- West Oxfordshire – 10
- Cherwell – 93
- Vale of White Horse – 36
- Oxfordshire – 254
- South East – 4,987
- England – 34,371
Across the UK, there are currently 3,953 patients with coronavirus on ventilation.
At OUH, 59 patients were admitted to hospital yesterday, bringing the number of people who have tested positive in hospital currently to 317.
Of those, 45 are on ventilation.
At Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, six patients were admitted to a community or mental health hospital yesterday with the virus, bringing the total number of people who have tested positive currently at the hospital to 45.
Of those, none are on ventilation.
