A TRAINING provider for sport and education qualifications will be hosting a virtual open day on Thursday.

Ignite Sport UK, based at Oxford City Football Club, will be hosting a virtual open event this week for young people interested in sports-based apprenticeships.

The open event will take place via Zoom from 7pm on Thursday, January 21.

The evening will offer year 11 leavers upwards and their parents or carers the opportunity to learn more about the company’s sports-based apprenticeships and the pathways they provide to careers such as sports coaching and physical education tutors.

Apprenticeships are open to anyone concluding their Year 11 GCSE exams and upwards and train young people in schools across the UK to support the provision of sport.

Viewers will be able to learn more details about how Ignite Sport UK provides young people with the best on-the-job paid learning experience via face-to-face training, experiencing real-life situations and online e-portfolios.

Hannah Bladen said:“Typically, this time of year is very busy at Ignite Sport UK as we showcase the opportunities we provide to apprentices at various career fairs and physical open events.

“Unfortunately, that is not possible this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Instead, we have taken appropriate steps to ensure our upcoming open event will be just as informative online.

"You will be able to learn more about our core values via our showcase video and listen to the real life experiences our current apprentices are developing by working with people of varying ages from all backgrounds.

“We’re looking for bright, bubbly and passionate people that love sport and want to work with young people and learn how to deliver and coach a range of sports in community and school settings.

"Our apprentices have bags of energy and enthusiasm and develop excellent communication skills that will enable them to learn the trade of being a sports coach or physical education teacher.

“We look forward to welcoming as many people possible to our virtual open event.”
