POLICE are 'culling' the bike racks at Oxford and Didcot train stations after commuters 'abandoned' their bikes.
In a now-deleted tweet, Oxfordshire's British Transport Police warned cyclists that they have until February 22 to remove their bikes.
BTPOxon shared a photograph of the sign that could appear on cycles chained up to the racks outside the train stations.
It said: "Dear Cyclist, due to the high number of abandoned bikes at Oxford Railway Station, Great Western Railway (GWR) and British Transport Police (BTP) will be carrying out a cull of all the cycle racks.
"You are required to remove your bike. If your bike has not been removed by the week commencing 22 February 2021 it will be deemed that your bike has been abandoned and will be removed.
"Great Western Railway will take ownership of the bike and dispose of the property.
"Your bike must be removed by the week commencing 22nd February 2021."
England is currently on lockdown meaning anybody who can work from should do so.
In guidance updated earlier this week, Boris Johnson said that people should 'stay local' when leaving their home - meaning their town, village or city.
Before lockdown Oxfordshire was in Tier 4 and commuters had been urged to work from home where possible.
