MORE than 60 new coronavirus cases have been identified in Oxfordshire as hospital admissions climb at the trust in charge of the John Radcliffe and two more deaths are announced.

According to Public Health England, as of 9am Friday, these were the number of new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours;

  • Oxford - 13
  • Oxfordshire - 61
  • UK - 20,252

The total coronavirus cases since the pandemic started;

  • Oxford - 3,033
  • Oxfordshire - 9,472
  • UK - 1,473,508

Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.

A further 511 people were reported to have died within 28 days of a positive Covid-19 test.

It takes the confirmed UK death toll to 54,286.

Two more deaths of patients who tested positive for coronavirus have been announced at Oxfordshire’s hospitals.

Figures published by NHS England today show the deaths took place at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUH) on Wednesday.

It takes the Covid death toll at the trust, which runs the John Radcliffe Hospital, to 197 since the pandemic started.

There have now been 10 deaths at OUH in November, this is up from five for the whole of October.

In separate figures it was also revealed as of 8am on Tuesday there were 49 patients at OUH, with coronavirus.

Of these two people were in serious enough condition to need to be on ventilation. It is a sharp rise from the 31 patients in hospital a week prior.
