A PASSING doctor 'saved the life' of a driver caught up in a crash on the M40 yesterday.

The collision was one of two incidents within 300m of each other at junction 9 on the southbound carriageway just after 3pm.

The doctor leapt into action to help a motorist involved in the first crash, according to Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.

A Facebook post read: "The actions of a passing doctor undoubtedly saved the life of the driver...who was unconscious and needed the simple action of unblocking his airway to enable him to eventually walk away."

Those involved only sustained 'minor injuries', the fire service added, with crews from Bicester, Banbury and Kidlington attending the incidents.

The Facebook post added: "With the wet and winter weather approaching, take a look at our advice for driving and make sure you adapt to the changing conditions."

South Central Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
