The Didcot power station cooling towers are two famous Oxfordshire landmarks which disappeared earlier this year only to be recreated in a Didcot community hospital garden.

Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust wanted to recreate the towers in two intricate and eye-catching mosaic murals.

The murals feature animals and wildlife to remind patients of the more rural aspects of the local environment. The doves and a chicken are a special tribute to Gail Castle, a former ward manager at the hospital, who passed away in 2014.

The project was led by local artist Becky Paton who worked closely with patients and staff who, over 10 weeks, completed small circular mini-mosaics on wood circles which were added to the larger piece.
