CORONAVIRUS cases in the UK went up by more than 25,000 today, with nearly 170 in Oxfordshire.
According to Public Health England, as of 9am, these are the number of new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours;
- Oxford - 52
- Oxfordshire - 166
- UK - 26,688
The total coronavirus cases since the pandemic started;
- Oxford - 1,804
- Oxfordshire - 1,856
- UK - 789,229
Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.
The health body is including Pillar 2 tests – those carried out by commercial partners – alongside Pillar 1 tests, which are analysed in NHS or Public Health England laboratories and which made up the first stage of the Government’s mass testing programme.
Across the UK a further 191 people were reported to have died within 28 days of a positive Covid-19 test.
It takes the confirmed UK death toll to 44,158.

There were also 94 further deaths in England’s hospitals announced yesterday by NHS England.
The first death in more than three months was reported in the county on Monday.
The patient died on Saturday at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUH), taking the trust’s overall death toll to 183.
Globally, there have now been nearly 41 million confirmed cases of Covid-19. The death toll is more than 1.1 million, with the highest number of deaths in the US.
