THERE were more than 60 cases of coronavirus in the seven days to Friday, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

The list has been calculated by the PA news agency and is based on data published this afternoon.

It gives the city a weekly rolling infection rate per 100,000 people of 41.3, based on 63 cases.

The rate is almost double the 21.6 based on 33 cases the week prior.

It remains far below the largest hotspots in the county, however, with Knowsley currently top with an infection rate of 279.7 based on 422 new cases.

Three more positive tests were confirmed in Oxford today.

It follows 22 new cases recorded in the city over the weekend, with two on Saturday and the other 20 reported on Sunday.

The current total for Oxford is 1,187.

There have also now been 3,921 Oxfordshire, with 32 new cases on Sunday and nine as of 9am.

Across the UK another 4,044 infections were reported today, taking the overall total to 439,013.

There were also 13 deaths confirmed of people who died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19.

This takes the official death toll to 42,001.

In the UK there are currently 1,727 people in hospital with coronavirus, including 262 patients in serious enough condition to need to be on ventilation.

Globally, there have now been more than 33 million cases confirmed and almost a million deaths.

The highest death toll remains the US, which has passed 204,000 since the pandemic started.
