Knifeman spat at police officers
The prison van containing Christopher Howard leaves Swindon Magistrates' Court
Serial thief Christopher Howard was caught with a miniature lock knife in May. Two months later he was caught trying car doors in Old Walcot. And in September he was found - by police dog Conan - hiding underneath a lorry by police responding to reports of a man trying to break into cars.
As he was arrested on Friday morning he began spitting at police officers, then in a police van before finally urinating across his cell.
Magistrates jailed him for 10 months on Saturday morning.

A bully who told his pregnant ex-girlfriend “I’m going to kick that baby out of you” was jailed for two years.
Judge Peter Crabtree told William Goffett, 25: “Anyone who’s in a domestic relationship deserves to be treated with respect. You were far from treating her with respect – within this period at least.”
