SWIMMING lessons will restart at pools across Oxfordshire next week following a five month hiatus.

Better, the social enterprise that operates 19 leisure centres across the county on behalf of West Oxfordshire, South Oxfordshire and VWH councils, will relaunch its swim school, from September 14.

Lessons will initially focussing on children aged between five and 16 years old, before rolling out to younger children and adults later in the year.

Lessons will initially be available at Carterton Leisure Centre, Chipping Norton Leisure Centre, Windrush Leisure Centre, Faringdon Leisure Centre, Wantage Leisure Centre, White Horse Leisure and Tennis Centre, Didcot Wave Leisure Pool and Gym, Henley Leisure Centre and Thame Leisure Centre.

Covid secure measures have been put in place for pupils, parents and swimming teachers.

This will include asking pupils to arrive at their lesson “pool ready” to minimise time spent in changing rooms, staggered arrival times and a one-way system to and from classes.

Social distancing will be encouraged throughout the building, for teachers, pupils and spectators.

Parents watching from the sides will also be asked to wear face masks.
