Lightning lit up Oxfordshire's skies last night as the high heatwave temperatures gave way to a summer storm.

A weather warning remains in place across the county until the end of tomorrow.

The Met Office has said some places are likely to see more 'severe' thunderstorms, but with 'significant uncertainty' over their location and timing.

Oxford's forecast for today includes a chance for further stormy skies this afternoon as temperatures reach 31C.

Oxfordshire County Council has warned drivers the heavy rainfall has led to standing water and the storm has caused tree debris on many roads.

It also led to some spectacular lightning across the region.

Oxford Mail Camera Club member Victoria Timms captured an amazing image of Brill windmill just across the Buckinghamshire border lit by forked lightning.
