LEISURE centres are set to reopen across southern Oxfordshire from tomorrow.

Gyms, pools and tennis courts will welcome customers again after months of financial insecurity.

While not all facilities will be available to use from the start, there will be plenty of things for customers in southern Oxfordshire to book.

Better that runs the leisure centres on behalf of the councils has implemented a number of strict safety measures in line with government guidelines.

Customers will also have to book their sessions in advance to help manage the centres' reduced capacities and social distancing.

Facilities in Vale of White Horse reopening today include White Horse LC, Wantage and Faringdon, while the centre in Abbey Meadows will stay shut.

Oxford Mail:

She said: "The reopening of our leisure centres has been long-awaited for many.

"I feel that everything has been done to make sure that all those who come to use the gym, pools and attend classes will feel safe as well as the staff working in these new circumstances.

"It is important that we all do what we can to stay fit and healthy, it is vital not only to physical wellbeing, but mental wellbeing too.

"Some people have been able to find alternative ways of doing this during lockdown but for others leisure centres are important to their activities."
