PUPILS jumped for joy as their school retained its ‘good’ rating from Ofsted.

Although social distancing stopped them getting too close to each other, students at Horspath Church of England Primary School still celebrated as the school was again judged to be good.

The Blenheim Road school, which is part of Oxford-based River Learning Trust, was inspected just before lockdown and was also judged good at its two previous inspections.

Headteacher Rachel Medley said: “I am so proud of everyone at the school and I’m delighted that we have retained our rating.

“The staff all work extremely hard to ensure every child is able to reach their potential, the parents are incredibly supportive and the children are a delight.

“This was reflected in the report. It said the school was ‘welcoming and happy’, that the pupils are ‘well cared for and safe’ and that they behave well.”

The school, on the eastern edge of Oxford, was inspected on March 10, with the report stating that one parent said that Horspath is ‘a great village school that we are proud to be part of’.
