THE glorious clear summer skies earlier this week, were perfect for capturing beautiful colours at dawn and dusk.

This week’s Camera Club competition theme was ‘sunset and sunrise’ and the photography enthusiasts went out into open fields or visited lakes and woodlands to capture the orange glows at the beginning and end of the day.

Camera Club members sent in such a fantastic selection of colourful skies it was hard to choose the best.

Many of the sunset and sunrise snaps had distinctive Oxfordshire backdrops, including Bryan Robertson’s picture of Blenheim Palace. He captured a beautiful orange hue and light clouds behind the silhouette of the palace.

Linda Robertson sent in a snap of deer running across a meadow as the sun sets in the background.

Another silhouette picture was taken by Helen Elizabeth of a graveyard and church.

Christine Crook sent in a snap of the Thames at Lechlade with the church spire poking through in the background.

Shez McKenchnie sent in a mystical-looking photo of a fairy-like silhouette in a meadow taken just as the as the sun rises.

Scott Miller took a snap which is a bit different from the rest. It is of the sun rising in Stoke Woods and it is captured just as the sun beams down through the gaps of the tree branches.

Jim Jutton took a purple and pink coloured sunrise that is perfectly mirrored on the water. The photo is taken looking west from Vanbrugh Bridge at Blenheim Palace.

Susan Gibbs sent in a beautiful and clear snap of a sunset in Wantage captured on the horizon as it shines across the fields.
