ROBBERS stopped a man, asked for his wallet, and then flashed a knife at him before making a dash for freedom. 

The 30-year-old man was walking on the footpath between Mayfield Road and Cherwell School on Sunday morning at around 9.40am when the two teenagers, both described as white, approached him.

Police say they were both hanging around in the area beforehand.

Now in an appeal for vital information to their investigation, Detective Constable Rebecca Nightingale, based at St Aldates station said: "I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident or may have any CCTV or dash-cam footage to get in touch."

So far police have arrested a 17-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy from Oxford on suspicion of attempted robbery. 

They have both been released on bail until June 14.
