SWELTERING heat is set to hit Oxfordshire as wildfire warnings were issued.

CLA South East – the organisation for land owners – is calling on the public to take extra care in the countryside as warm, dry and settled weather has elevated wildfire conditions.

The dry conditions are likely to continue over the next few weeks, with the medium-range forecast predicting a prolonged spell of above-average sunshine and below-average rainfall.

CLA members highlighted the increased risk associated with disposable barbecues.
